Gemma spent a very happy New Year in New York - and took her eco-friendly Bargoed bag along to help with all those purchases. The bag is now au fait with all areas of Manhattan - including Times Square, Greenwich Village and, of course, the shopping heaven of Fifth Avenue.

Gemma, a former Heolddu Comprehensive School pupil whose dad, Peter, is Treasurer Of Bargoed Chamber of Trade, said: "I'd much rather use an eco-bag than accumulate plastic bags. And there was no need for the infamous Little Brown Bag for me this year - my Bargoed bag did the job."

Gemma is pictured in snowy Brooklyn on New Year's Eve.

The linen bags available from members of the Bargoed Chamber of Trade were provided as a response to the demand for eco-friendly bags and to support Bargoed’s bid to become a fair-trade town.

The Chamber would like pictures of the bag in unusual circumstances/places so please either send or email them to the Secretary.

Bargoed Chamber of Trade and its members would like to thank everyone for their support at what is a difficult time for the town and wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Further information about Bargoed Chamber of Trade and its activities can be obtained from the Secretary Dave Collins, Messrs Fooks & Co Accountants, 14 High Street, Bargoed. Tel: 01443 834047 email chamber@fooks.co.uk
